Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can you take the test from home?

Medidocs

What is the next step if the test results indicate elevated TSH levels?

7 offers the facility to undergo thyroid tests at home. You can book the package from the app or the browser site, and our medical professionals will visit you at your convenience. Once the test is complete, the results will be delivered within 72 hours.

Why is a CBC included in the thyroid test package?

If the results from the thyroid test package indicate any glandular irregularities, you need to consult your primary healthcare provider. In most cases of hypothyroidism, you will be prescribed synthetic thyroid hormone medication, such as Levo-T or Synthroid. For hyperthyroidism, doctors may rely on antithyroid drugs, like methimazole, to reduce the production of T3 and T4 hormones

Are hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism curable?

A CBC is not typically part of most thyroid function test packages, but the Apollo collection includes it to provide a more comprehensive assessment. For instance, since hyperthyroidism is commonly linked with Grave’s disease, a CBC can help detect it alongside other related conditions.

Are there any preparatory steps before taking the test?

Surgical removal of the thyroid will permanently cure hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. However, post-operation, patients must take thyroid replacement medication for the rest of their lives to compensate for the missing gland. Thus, such treatment methods are not always recommended, and doctors prefer other clinical avenues to manage such conditions.

When should you consider opting for a thyroid test??

You do not need to fast or take other precautions before undergoing a thyroid function test. However, you must inform your doctor if you are taking thyroid medication. Regardless, there is no need to stop taking the prescribed drugs before opting for the test.
