After completing his MBBS, he went on to pursue MS from the JSS Medical College in Mysore, and his area of specialisation was ENT. He completed his MS in 1980. He also holds a diploma in Otorhinolaryngology. Dr. Raman is an expert in various procedures like otoplasty, ear reconstruction, cochlear implants, sinus surgery, and congenital ear problem treatment. He was key in developing the Paediatric Airway and Tracheostomy Safety Module along with CASC (Children's Airway and Swallowing Center).
